1xBet bags top honour as industry leaders emerge at Africa Gaming Expo 2026

Leading betting company 1xBet has been named Africa’s Sports Betting Operator of the Year at the Africa Gaming Expo 2026, headlining a night of recognition at the Dinner and Awards ceremony held on March 26 at Eko Hotels, Lagos.

The award underscores 1xBet’s growing footprint across Africa’s gaming landscape, where innovation, compliance, and customer engagement continue to shape competition among operators.

Reacting to the recognition, the company’s Business Development Manager, Dimeji Adedapo, expressed delight, noting that the award affirms the brand’s efforts in delivering value to customers.

“We feel so happy and good for this award, for us this means that our efforts and platform as an operators is being seing, recognised and appreciated. This is to also tell us to work more and make our platform user friendly for customers to keep enjoying our services,” he said.

Adedapo attributed the company’s rise in the African market to its strong customer-centric approach and strict adherence to local regulations.

“For us at 1xBet, the goal is to make sure that we satisfy our customers, give them different options to exploit and also make sure we comply 100% with the regulators and laws of that land that has to do with the industry which we operates in,” he added.

He also highlighted responsible gaming as a core pillar of the brand’s operations, noting that customer protection remains a priority through awareness campaigns, compliance measures and self-exclusion options.

“Our customers welfare is our concern as a brand. We make sure we help our customers to play responsibly, we put out sensitizing informations, videos and other materials for responsible gaming. We also adhere strictly to the regulators guidelines, do proper KYC’s with our customers, and give them an avenue to self exclude themselves when necessary,” he explained.

Beyond operations, Adedapo said the company is focused on expanding its presence across Africa while contributing to community development through corporate social responsibility initiatives, youth engagement and empowerment programmes.

The awards night also recognised other key players shaping Africa’s gaming ecosystem. BetConstruct emerged as Platform Provider of the Year, while BetKing clinched the African Gaming for Good Award. Bet9ja received the Social Impact Award for its contributions to community development.

In the individual category, Angela M. and Olafadeke Akeju were honoured for their roles in shaping African gaming.

Strategic partnerships were also spotlighted, with Premier Lotto, QTech Games and Betwinner recognised as AGE Strategic Partners.

Other winners included Select Punters Limited, which won the AfriPitch competition, and Sharp Vision for Pan-African Regulatory Partnership. The Gambling Authority Botswana was honoured for Responsible Gaming Leadership, while betPawa shared the Sports Betting Operator of the Year recognition alongside 1xBet. Evidencia AI was named Distinguished Sponsor.

Special recognitions were also awarded to Daniel Amokachi as African Sports Legend and Moses Itauma as AGE Gaming Ambassador.

The Africa Gaming Expo 2026 brought together regulators, operators, investors and innovators, reflecting the rapid evolution of Africa’s gaming industry and its increasing global relevance.
