Samsung unveils Vision AI television, the first of its kind in Lagos

Samsung Electronics Limited has unveiled its first AI television at its Unbox and Discover 2025 event. The new Samsung Vision AI TV, touted as the next big thing in television, is powered by the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, secured by Knox Security, and comes with a guaranteed 7 years of OS upgrades. The new lineup comes in Neo QLED 8K, OLED, Neo QLED 4K, QLED & Crystal UHD TVs.

Speaking with Technext, CEO of Samsung Electronics West Africa, Tae Sun Lee, noted that AI, which was considered science fiction just a few years ago, has now become a reality that follows people everywhere, even down to their living rooms. As such, the Vision AI was created with the goal of personalising technology to make life easier.

Just a few years ago, AI was something we only imagined. A phenomenon based only on science fiction. The kind of thing you would only see in movies. But here we are today with AI not just in our lives, but right in our rooms, on the very screens we watch every day. At Samsung, we believe technology should be personal. This is why we created Samsung Vision AI as a helpful companion that makes every life easier, richer, and more enjoyable. With Vision AI, it is about what we can do for you,” he said.

Samsung Vision AI comes fully secured and with great capabilities

Spotlighting the features of the new Samsung Vision AI, Master Trainer of Consumer Electronics at Samsung West Africa, Abigail Doigha, noted that AI is revolutionising the world and making life better every single day. As the new Vision AI is an extension of the AI revolution, it comes with the revolutionary NQ8 AI Gen 3 processor, which is Samsung’s most recent best-performing processor.

She noted that it doesn’t matter how old an image or a film is; the NQ8 processor has the capacity to upscale it to 8K content. Thus, the difference in picture quality between the new Vision AI and its contemporaries is glaring,

She also noted that the Samsung Vision AI comes with the Smart Things feature, which integrates not just all smart home devices like air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and Galaxy devices, it also lifestyles.

We can sit on our couch and operate our washing machine. A lady taking care of her baby does not need to stand up to go see what’s happening in the kitchen. She can literally sit in the living room and find out what’s happening or what she has in the refrigerator,” she explained.

She also highlighted the Family Care feature, which enables users to check in on their homes and families even while they are away without the need to be there physically. This feature does this by monitoring movements in the house and alerting the user when there are no movements after a while or if there are unusual movements. For this feature to work, however, the television has to be on and connected.

The Samsung Vision AI also has a Universal Gesture feature, which enables users to control it with smartwatches. Thus, one doesn’t need buttons, as simple hand gestures can control the television through the smartwatch.

Security and other features

Using an AI television involves inputting every kind of personal information into it. From login and passwords to financial details while paying for services like Netflix, medical history while accessing the health option, NIN, details of family and friends and a whole lot more. Because of its immense digital capacity, the matter of security becomes an all-important one.

Doigha noted that the Vision AI comes with Samsung’s specialised Knox Security, which protects the device and its users.

At Samsung, we prioritise security, which is why on our new AI TV, one of our key features is Knox Security. Knox Security is Samsung’s built-in security that protects our devices and generally protects us. Knox Security feature also protects all personal information embedded in our TVs, so you can enjoy with the peace of mind that your privacy is protected,” she said.

She also pointed out that the television has a cinematic sound experience enabled by the upscaling adaptive sound feature. There is also the AI motion enhancer, which is particularly useful for gamers, football and lovers of fast-paced movies. AI motion enhancers help see moving pictures very clearly, almost like the watcher is present.

She further touted the innovative design of the television, which includes a metal frame design. It also comes with an arts mode, which gives users access to more than 3,000 artworks from museums and libraries around the world, essentially making it the largest yet most personalised arts library in the world.

With the Samsung Vision AI, CEO Tae Sun Lee believes Samsung is retaining its spot as the number 1 TV brand and will remain there for a long time to come.

We have been the global number 1 TV brand for 90 years, and we do not plan to stop that. Tonight is just about the beginning. The best is yet to come, and I invite you to explore, enjoy and imagine the future with us,” he said.
