Onyinyechi Basil Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025

Onyinyechi Basil has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 at a dazzling event held on Saturday night in Lagos.

Basil emerged victorious after competing against 22 contestants, with Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, standing as one of the final contenders by her side.

Other winners included Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, who placed as second runner-up, and Miss Ogun, who finished as third runner-up.

From the 22 contestants, only 10 advanced to the final stages, including Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro; Miss Ekiti, Ezekiel Silver; Miss Imo, Chukwukereobi Chinaza; Miss Ebonyi, Ugoaru Onuoha; and Miss Oyo, Lagoke Funmike.

The pageant celebrated culture, diversity, and elegance across different segments:

Traditional Attire: Contestants dazzled in modern takes on Nigeria’s cultural heritage, blending vibrant local fabrics with contemporary designs that drew loud cheers.

Swimwear Round: A showcase of body confidence and inclusivity as the contestants graced the runway with bold flair.

Entertainment: The night kicked off with choreographed dance performances that set the stage for a lively and colorful show.

According to official voting statistics, Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro, led with 38,319 votes, followed by Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde (34,033 votes) and Miss Ekiti, Ezekiel Silver (28,074 votes), underscoring the strong public engagement this year.

Basil now succeeds Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, Chidinma Adetshina, and will go on to represent Nigeria at the global Miss Universe pageant later this year, competing against contestants from around the world.
