National Lottery inundated with furious complaints as customers unable to buy tickets

The National Lottery has been hit with a flurry of complaints after customers were locked out of its app and website.

Both the lottery's iOS and Android apps, as well as its website, went down over the weekend as part of a scheduled 24-hour maintenance period, which was supposed to conclude by the end of Sunday.

However, players still faced issues entering draws and checking their winnings on Monday morning.

A notice on the app read: "Sorry, our app is unable to load for you.

"This could be due to planned maintenance or you being blocked by your internet provider."

The National Lottery has been hit with hundreds of complaints from disgruntled customers as a result of the works.

One person wrote to X: "Can’t log in as it says outside of the UK, despite being in the UK. BT says it’s your problem.

"Congrats on the worst upgrade."

Another customer said: "Good idea closing for maintenance on Sunday when everyone wants to check their tickets."

A third X user wrote: "Just logged in and all my saved numbers have gone."

Another National Lottery player branded the upgrade "terrible".

"It won’t even let either of us on. Keeps saying it can’t confirm our location on the web and app versions," they said.

"Can’t check tickets [because] it was a lucky dip on the app so don’t know the numbers. Terrible."
