I’m taking God, my faith seriously – Dani Alves

Former Barcelona and Brazil defender Dani Alves has reemerged as an evangelical preacher in Girona, following his acquittal in a sexual assault case and 14 months behind bars.

A viral video showed the bearded ex-footballer addressing the congregation at Elim Church, where he was warmly applauded after taking up the microphone.

“You must take God seriously and have faith. I am the living proof,” Alves declared.

He continued: “What God promises, He delivers. I have agreed a pact with God. In the midst of turbulence and storms, there is always a messenger from God. This messenger gathered me up and brought me to the church. And now I am on the right path, thanks to him.”

Alves, who made 408 appearances for Barcelona across two spells and played for Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, said his focus is on faith and spiritual renewal.
