Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is on the verge of making Galatasaray history as he aims to become the club’s highest scorer in a single UEFA Champions League season when they face Juventus in the round of 16 playoff tie.

The current record is held by former Turkish striker and Gaziantep manager Burak Yılmaz, who netted eight goals in nine appearances during the 2012/13 campaign—his debut season after joining from Trabzonspor. Yılmaz was instrumental in Galatasaray’s run to the quarter-finals that year before they were eliminated 5-3 on aggregate by Real Madrid.

Osimhen, who has already smashed several records since arriving at the Istanbul giants, has six goals from six matches this season. He needs just two more goals to equal Yılmaz’s mark and three to set a new club record. A strong showing across both legs against Juventus could see the Nigerian striker rewrite the Galatasaray record books, even if he does not score a hat-trick in a single match.

The first leg takes place at RAMS Park on Wednesday, with the return leg scheduled in Turin next week.

Beyond Europe, Osimhen remains focused on domestic success, helping Galatasaray defend their Süper Lig title. The club currently leads closest rivals Fenerbahçe by a narrow three points, adding extra pressure to maintain their winning momentum on all fronts.
