Tinubu Returns To Abuja After Diplomatic Visits To Japan, Brazil

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, after completing a two-week diplomatic mission to Japan and Brazil.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the presidency confirmed that Tinubu arrived at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at exactly 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. He was warmly received by top-ranking government officials.

The president had first departed Abuja for Japan, where he attended the ninth edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). The high-level summit provided a platform to strengthen Nigeria-Japan relations and explore new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Following his engagements in Japan, President Tinubu proceeded to Brazil with the aim of deepening Nigeria-Brazil ties. During the visit, both nations signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in critical sectors, including energy, agriculture, and security, reinforcing their commitment to long-term collaboration.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu’s presidential jet departed Brasília International Airport Air Force Base at exactly 12:57 p.m. local time. He was seen off by senior Brazilian officials, including the Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, and the Ambassador of Brazil to Nigeria, Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, alongside other senior government representatives, was also present at the airport to bid farewell to the president before his departure.
