County Governments Announce School Scholarships for Grade 10 Learners

Muranga County Government has announced full senior school scholarships for grade 10 orphans.

In a statement dated Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the county stated that it is offering six full scholarships to deserving learners, in partnership with Co-operative Bank of Kenya, Food for Education, and a well-wisher.

‘The County, with support from Co-operative Bank of Kenya and a well-wisher, Food for Education, is offering six (6) full scholarships for Senior School to deserving learners,” read part of the statement.

The county added that applications should be submitted by January 9, 2026, online via https://bursaries.muranga.go.ke.

Also, Kilifi County, through the Kilifi Ward Scholarship Fund, invited applications from eligible students who sat the KJSEA 2025 examinations for consideration under the Full County Scholarship Programme.

Murang’a County on Senior School Scholarships

The County Government has rolled out a complete Senior School scholarship programme targeting deserving orphaned learners as part of its efforts to expand access to education and improve the socio-economic well-being of residents.

“Murang’a County implements various programmes to improve the socio-economic well-being of its residents. Given budgetary constraints, the County continues to strengthen partnerships with stakeholders and build linkages with the private sector to enhance service delivery. In this regard, Murang’a County is pleased to acknowledge and appreciate support from the private sector towards its education initiatives,” read a statement.

In partnership with Co-operative Bank of Kenya and Food for Education, the county will award six fully funded scholarships, with selection based on vulnerability and academic performance.

Under the criteria, total orphans will receive priority, accounting for 60 percent of available slots, while partial orphans or learners with a parent living with a disability will account for 30 percent.

Total orphans must produce death certificates for both parents. In contrast, partial orphans or learners with a parent living with a disability must submit either a death certificate of the deceased parent or a valid PWD card.

Learners who scored 60 points or above will receive greater consideration, while those with 50–59 points will also be eligible for the programme.

The county noted that the initiative reflects its commitment to equitable access to education and added that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

Kilifi County on Senior Schools’ Scholarship for Grade 10 Students

Kilifi County announced a complete scholarship programme for students transitioning to Grade 10 after a successful Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA) examination.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 6, Governor Gideon Mung’aro announced that the scholarship would be released under the ward scholarship fund and therefore invited applications before consideration.

The governor clarified that the program targets bright but needy students, including orphans, those from single-parent households, learners living with disabilities, and those from low-income families.

“The Kilifi County Government, through the Kilifi Ward Scholarship Fund, invites applications from eligible students who sat the KJSEA 2025 examinations for consideration under the Full County Scholarship Programme,” the statement stated.
