Shocking Confession of Notorious Cult Leader, Emmanuel Nwokolo After His Arrest in Lagos

A suspected cult leader, Emmanuel Nwokolo, arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, has admitted his involvement in cult-related killings, claiming that the violent acts left him emotionally distressed and unable to sleep for days.

Speaking with journalists following his arrest, Nwokolo confessed to being a member of the Aiye Confraternity, popularly known as NBM, stating that he was persuaded to join the group by a late friend who promised him a better life and greater success.

“It is true that I am a member of the Aiye cult group. My name is Emmanuel Nwokolo. I am into internet business,” he said. “My friend told me that if I wanted to succeed and improve my life, I should join NBM, but I have not seen any improvement since joining them.”

Nwokolo disclosed that he became involved in cult activities after being introduced to the group about three years ago. He denied being a long-time cultist, explaining that he initially maintained only a casual friendship with the person who recruited him.

Reacting to allegations that his gang was responsible for more than 10 killings in Shibiri, Ajangbadi and Ilogbo communities, Nwokolo admitted participating in the killing of four individuals whom he identified as members of rival cult groups.

According to him, members of his gang targeted suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity and their allies during a series of retaliatory attacks. He claimed his role was mainly to record the operations while other members identified and attacked the victims.

“The only thing I did during those killings was record the process,” he said. “Whenever my group killed any rival member, I couldn’t sleep in my house for days. The memories brought fear and restlessness. It affected me emotionally.”

The Lagos State Police Command alleged that Nwokolo and several accomplices were involved in cult-related violence that terrorised residents of Ajangbadi, Shibiri, Ishashi and Ilogbo communities.

Two other suspects arrested alongside him, identified as Israel Ayoola and Ebuka Nnamdi, reportedly told investigators that they were lured into cultism with promises of influence, protection and social connections.

Confirming the arrests, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said investigations linked the suspects to multiple violent crimes across the affected communities.

She revealed that detectives recovered a video from one of the suspects’ phones allegedly showing the killing of unidentified persons in Ajangbadi and surrounding areas.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted involvement in several killings and other criminal activities.

During the operation, officers also recovered three firearms, including two locally made pistols and a revolver, along with 13 live cartridges.

Police said investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to apprehend other members of the gang and bring all those connected to the crimes to justice.
