He came off the bench to feature for Wrexham in their League Two fixture against Doncaster today, September 9.

Luke Young had put Wrexham ahead as the opening period wore on, his deflected shot beating Ian Lawlor.

Modou Faal headed Doncaster Rovers’ equaliser, his first goal since joining on loan from West Brom.

Mullin came on with the score at 1-1 for his first appearance after being injured while playing against Manchester United in July. The home supporters starved of his goals and combative style this season rose as one with a huge cheer and launched into their Mullin tribute songs.

Five minutes later, the North Wales side were in the lead despite the heroics of Doncaster keeper Lawlor. He brilliantly kept out close-range efforts from Ollie Palmer and Elliot Lee but couldn’t prevent Luke Young’s deflected attempt creeping in via the inside of the post.

Following the win today, Wrexham rose from 13th to seventh in the League Two table, while Doncaster remains at the bottom.

Mullin netted 38 goals in 46 National League outings last season and his return comes just a day after the club completed the signing of veteran striker Steven Fletcher, who has an abundance of Premier League experience with the likes of Wolves and Sunderland.

The Welsh side has endured a slow start to life back in the League Two football competition, winning two, drawing three, and losing one of their six games thus far.
