Incident of Suspected Kidnapper Killed by Nasarawa Police

On the Nasarawa-Keffi highway, the Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the neutralization of a suspected kidnapper.

In a statement on Thursday, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the State Police Public Relations Officer, made this disclosure.

According to the statement, at about 2100hrs on 03/4/2024, a distress call reported that hoodlums had blocked Nasarawa – Keffi highway near Kemu village intending to abduct unsuspecting road users.

Responding promptly to the situation, the police operatives, alongside the military, swiftly arrived at the scene. Upon seeing the operatives, the criminals initiated gunfire, leading to a gun battle.

One of the criminals was fatally injured, and a recovered Ak 47 rifle was found to be loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. The criminals were forced to abandon their kidnapping mission and flee for safety due to the superior firepower of the combined security forces.

Investigations revealed that the kidnappers had halted two SUVs with intentions to abduct the occupants. However, the joint security forces’ quick response prevented the abduction.

The injured kidnapper was taken to General Hospital, Nasarawa, but unfortunately, he passed away during treatment.
