Tsutomu 'Tom' Matano, known to many as the 'Father of the Miata', has died on September 20th, 2025. The news broke via social media this weekend and has been confirmed via several reputable sources, including family members, but the cause of Matano's death has not been confirmed. Matano was 76 years old and would've celebrated his 77th birthday on 9 October.
