Bishop Oparah Calls for Faith, Unity and Moral Renewal Among Christians

The Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Owerri, Rt Revd Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah PhD JP, has called on Christians to remain steadfast in faith, promote unity and uphold moral values in the face of growing social and economic challenges.

Fielding questions from newsmen during the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary at the Bishop’s Chapel, Bishop’s Bourne, Owerri, the Prelate emphasized the need for believers to strengthen their relationship with God and demonstrate practical love towards one another, noting that faith should be reflected not only in words but also in actions that uplift communities.

He urged members of the congregation to remain hopeful despite difficulties, stressing that perseverance, prayer and mutual support are essential for overcoming trials.

According to him, the present times demand stronger spiritual commitment and responsible leadership at all levels of society.

Bishop Oparah also encouraged families to play active roles in nurturing discipline and good character among young people, warning that societal progress depends largely on the moral foundation laid within homes and communities.

The cleric further appealed to leaders in government, religious institutions and community organizations to work collaboratively for peace, justice and development, adding that unity remains a powerful tool for addressing social problems.

He concluded by calling on citizens to remain law-abiding, support one another and continue to seek divine guidance in all endeavours, expressing optimism that with faith and collective effort, society can experience positive transformation.
