Says state police remains the missing link in Nigeria’s security architecture, urges Nigerians to shun electoral violence and embrace peaceful democratic participation.

Legal practitioner and astute business leader, Barrister Donald Amamgbo, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, remains firmly positioned for re-election in 2027, insisting that the President deserves a full eight-year tenure to consolidate ongoing reforms and development initiatives across the country.

Speaking in an interview with journalists on Sunday, Amamgbo maintained that the current administration has recorded notable achievements, particularly in infrastructure development, which he said should be acknowledged by Nigerians rather than subjected to undue criticism.

According to him, the scale of road construction and other critical projects being executed under the Tinubu administration demonstrates a commitment to national development and economic growth.

The legal practitioner also renewed his call for the establishment of state police, describing it as one of the most important reforms needed to tackle insecurity and improve accountability in governance.

He argued that governors, who are constitutionally regarded as chief security officers of their respective states, should be empowered with appropriate security structures to effectively protect lives and property.

Addressing concerns that state police could be abused by political office holders, Amamgbo pointed to the security framework in the United States, where local police departments, state police formations and county sheriffs coexist and operate effectively within clearly defined legal boundaries.

He stressed that with proper constitutional safeguards and accountability mechanisms, state policing would strengthen security rather than undermine democracy.
