Woman sentenced to life in prison for Murd£ring her sister over jealousy linked to affair with her sister’s husband

Despite a seven-year age gap, a woman identified as Sabah Khan was arrested after confessing to the murder of her sister, Saima Khan.

Those who knew the family described the sisters as inseparable. They spent most of their time together—shopping, caring for Saima’s children, and living under the same roof. Their bond appeared strong and unbreakable from the outside.

However, beneath that close relationship, tensions had been quietly building. It later emerged that Sabah had developed deep resentment toward her sister, driven by her involvement with Saima’s husband, Hafeez Rehman.

Sabah Khan

Reports revealed that Sabah and Hafeez had been involved in a secret relationship for four years. Their affair took place while Saima was often away at work, completely unaware of the betrayal happening within her own home.

When Hafeez eventually attempted to end the relationship, Sabah reportedly became consumed by the situation. It was alleged that she began planning to remove her sister from the picture entirely.

On the night of the incident, Sabah allegedly lured Saima home early with a message about her children. As Saima entered the house, she was attacked. During the chaos, Saima’s children, who had been asleep, were awakened by the noise. One of them reportedly called out, “Are you k-lling a mouse, aunty?”

Initially, Sabah tried to mislead authorities, claiming that her sister had been k-lled during a break-in. However, investigators quickly uncovered inconsistencies in her story. Evidence later found in the home contradicted her claims, leading to her arrest.

In court, the full extent of the situation came to light. It was revealed that Sabah had become deeply fixated on Hafeez and wanted him “entirely for herself.” Text messages presented during the trial showed growing anger and obsession.

Further investigations also uncovered disturbing online searches and attempts to seek external means to harm her sister, including contacting individuals who claimed to use black magic. When those attempts failed, she reportedly carried out the act herself.

Despite attempts to portray herself as a grieving sister, Sabah’s actions and the evidence presented told a different story. She was ultimately found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 22 years. An appeal to reduce her sentence in 2017 was unsuccessful, as judges upheld the ruling, describing the crime as “horrendous and brutal.”

In the aftermath, the impact on the family has been devastating. Saima and Sabah’s parents continue to live in the same home where the tragedy occurred but have chosen not to speak publicly about the incident years later.

Hafeez

Meanwhile, Hafeez returned to his hometown in Pakistan, where he remarried before later returning to the UK. Reports suggest that his actions during the affair caused tension within his extended family, leading to strained relationships.

A family friend shared: “He’s not really liked in the family anymore after what happened.

“You see, they Hafeez and Saima are both from the same family so it caused a lot of problems.
“His extended family have kind of distanced themselves from him”

Another acquaintance described the sisters’ once-close relationship:
“The two sisters, you would never see them apart. It was them two together all the time.

“Every time we saw them they seemed like twins, even though they were a few years apart. They were that close.

“Whether they were picking up Saima’s children from school, or going shopping, they would always go together.

“I couldn’t believe the affair. I think what happened is that Sabah got very obsessed with him. She was more interested in him, while he was just passing time”

Even during the trial, conflicting accounts emerged about the nature of the affair. While Hafeez attempted to downplay his involvement, evidence suggested the relationship continued until shortly before the crime.
