An important message has been relayed by the Independent People of Biafra to the Ndigbo community, urging them not to participate in the ongoing nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest. The pro-Biafran group emphasizes the need for Ndigbo to prioritize the security of their lives and properties instead of joining the protest.

It has been communicated by the group that a joint effort from IPOB, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and other Igbo associations has cautioned against participating in the protests. Concerns have been raised regarding a security report indicating the likelihood of targeted attacks aimed at Ndigbo during the protest.

In a recent statement, Emma Powerful, the group’s spokesperson, highlighted alleged plans by security agencies to incite violent protests orchestrated by criminal elements in the South-East. This, according to IPOB, would potentially create opportunities for security forces to perpetrate attacks against the Ndigbo community.

The statement further asserts the need for caution, stating that Ndigbo are targeted and despised within Nigeria. IPOB denies accusations made by the Federal Government regarding their involvement in organizing the protests, viewing them as a pretext to harm Ndigbo.

Given the prevailing economic challenges facing Ndigbo, the group recommends focusing efforts on advocacy for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and pushing for a UN-monitored referendum instead of participating in nationwide protests.

Amidst the tension surrounding the hunger protests, Ndigbo are advised to protect themselves and their assets from potential looting by opportunistic individuals using the protests as cover. Increased vigilance is urged upon every Igbo individual across different regions during this period.
