The GPSSA said UAE workers who complete 35 years of service can receive a full pension equal to 100 percent of their salary calculation.

ABU DHABI, May 15: The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) has said insured employees in the UAE can qualify for a full pension after completing 35 years of service under the country’s pension system.

According to the authority, workers who complete 35 years of service may receive a pension worth 100 per cent of their pension calculation salary, helping strengthen long-term financial security after retirement.

The GPSSA explained that social security contributions are designed to protect workers and their families against unexpected situations such as illness, disability, workplace accidents or loss of income during and after employment.

Officials also highlighted that the UAE pension system supports family protection and social stability. In many cases, pension payments continue to eligible family members after a pension holder passes away, provided legal conditions are met.

The authority noted that a daughter’s pension share does not stop because of age, while widows can continue receiving pension benefits if their marital status remains unchanged.

The GPSSA said retirement rights begin building after one year of service, but insurance protection starts from the first day an employee joins work. In cases involving total disability, occupational illness or death, workers can receive full benefits regardless of age or years of service if employers have completed registration and contribution requirements correctly.

For employees leaving work before becoming eligible for retirement, the end-of-service gratuity is calculated using a step-by-step system that rewards longer service periods. Workers receive one and a half months of salary for each of the first five years, two months for each of the next five years and three months for every year after 10 years of service.

The authority added that employees who continue working beyond 35 years can receive extra advantages, including additional pension bonuses and the option to combine salary and pension benefits in some cases.

The GPSSA also encouraged insured workers to use the Ma’ashi digital platform to check contribution salaries, calculate expected pensions and track total service years.
