Tiger Woods experiences worst round shots in major championship

Tiger Woods, the five-time golf champion of the world walked off the third green st Augusta National in Saturday after missing a birdie putt. Woods struggled throughout the championship as he made a 10-over 82 which left him defeated as he will be playing out of the spotlight on Sunday in his 100th round at the Masters.

“I didn’t have a very good warm-up session, and I kept it going all day today. I just hit the ball in all the places that I know I shouldn’t hit it”, said Woods.

On the first day of the Masters, he begun with 1 over and 7 shots off the lead as he felt capable of making a run at Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and the other leaders. However, that was before 8 bogeys and 2 double-bogeys offset by just a pair of birdies which left Woods at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Woods’ worst ever round as a professional was in 2014 when he shot an 85 in the third round of the Memorial.

“I haven’t competed and played much. “When I had chances to get it flipped around and when I made that (birdie) putt at 5, I promptly three-putted 6 and flub a chip at 7 and just got it going the wrong way, and when I had opportunities to flip it, I didn’t”, continued Woods.

The player dumped his approach in the bunker and made double bogey after his tee shot at the seventh. He drove it into the trees, punched out and made another double in the eighth. Woods missed the fairway off the tee in the ninth, found a banker and walked away with a bogey. He played that four-hole stretch before making the turn in 6 over.

Some of the subsequent rounds he played came with a wayward tee shot, a missed 6-footer, a drive into the trees etc.

“Sure, he didn’t hit it how he wanted to, but also like putts that he had, the greens are so fast out there. You guys, you don’t realize, even a 2 1/2-foot putt is just brutal. They’ve got so much turn. You start a centimeter outside of your start line and it’s going to miss. Then depending on the pace you’ve hit it at, who knows how far away it’s going to finish up.”, said Hatton.

It has been a long grind for the player. Despite the misses, he shot a second-round 72 that the average score was 75.09, allowing him to make the cut for 24 consecutive times at the Masters.

On Saturday, Woods hit just 4 of the 13 fairways and had a pair of 3 putts.

“My team will get me ready. It will be a long night and a long warm-up session, but we’ll be ready”, said Woods.
