The 50th Residency of the Festival de Cannes

In the past 25 years, the Residency of the Festival de Cannes has established itself as an essential venue to discover and support emerging talent in international cinema. From its first sessions, it has welcomed now recognized artists such as Lucrecia Martel, Kornél Mundruczó, Nadine Labaki, and later Nadav Lapid, Lukas Dhont and Carla Simón. The Residency’s 50th session marks a symbolic milestone in its history, illustrating the continuity and vitality of a program that, over the years, has enabled many filmmakers to take a decisive step forward in their artistic careers.

From October 1, 2025, to February 15, 2026, six young filmmakers from diverse backgrounds will reside in Paris: Alica Bednáriková (Slovakia), Federico Luis (Argentina), Maksym Nakonechnyi (Ukraine), Laís Santos Araújo (Brazil), Baran Sarmad (Iran), and Dian Weys (South Africa). For four and a half months, they will benefit from a challenging and stimulating screenwriting environment combining individual support and group meetings with film professionals.
