Tgnews’ Boss Tom Garba Nominated for Outstanding Journalist of the Year at Prestigious Night of the Makers Awards

In a resounding recognition of dedication to truthful reporting and impactful journalism, Mr. Tom Garba, Managing Director of TGNews, has been nominated for the Outstanding Journalist of the Year 2025 award. The honor comes from the organizers of the 4th edition of the Night of the Makers Awards, a high-profile event celebrating excellence in media and leadership.

The nomination was formally communicated in a letter dated December 22, 2025, signed by Hon. John Ngamsa, Ph.D., Chair of the Selection Team for the Night of the Makers Awards Committee. The letter praises Garba’s revolutionary contributions to news content development in Adamawa, the Northeast, and Nigeria at large.

“Through TGNews, you have revolutionised news content development in Adamawa, the northeast and Nigeria at large, delivering impactful reporting that amplifies grassroots voices, promotes accountability, and fosters informed citizenship—perfectly aligning with our event’s mission to honour credible citizens and committed leaders who serve the people,” the letter reads.

The glamorous event, themed “Our Humanity: Unity, Peace and Security in the Face of a Changing World”, is scheduled for Monday, December 29, 2025, at Aliyu Mustafa Academy (formerly Aliyu Mustafa College), Jimeta-Yola. It will feature a red carpet, award presentations, discussions, dances, and a concert.

Notable figures include discussants Dr. Attah Barkindo, Mr. Laren Jingina, and Dr. Williams Kamale; Chairman Chief Senan Murray; Convener Hon. John Ngamsa, Ph.D.; Special Guest of Honour Dr. Edgar Amos; Grand Recipient Sen. Iya Abbas; and Host Chabiya Denham.

Garba, a seasoned journalist and political analyst based in Yola with a track record of fearless reporting, has previously received accolades, including recognition as an authentic journalist earlier in 2025.

Organizers have requested Garba submit a concise bio, list of achievements, a high-resolution portrait, and 4-6 images showcasing TGG News’ key initiatives by December 22, 2025, for feature in the official event magazine.

The Night of the Makers Awards, presented by Rhamo Multimedia Centre, aims to inspire media professionals and elevate discourse on unity and peace. With this nomination, Tom Garba joins an elite group of changemakers set to be celebrated on December 29.
