Taz & Tony Khan explain why Taz’s 2300 Arena Hall of Fame ceremony wasn’t on AEW Dynamite

As it’s latest residency — this one at Philadelphia’s 2300 (fka ECW) Arena — began last Wednesday, AEW surprised ECW legend Taz with the news he was being inducted into the historic venue’s Hall of Fame. The ceremony was initially announced for the Aug. 30 Collision, but moved to Dynamite tonight (Sept. 3) at Taz’s request.

Shortly before the show this evening, AEW owner & president Tony Khan went live with Taz. They hyped Dynamite’s card, had some Seinfeld-related laughs, and revealed that Taz had requested his induction not take up television time that he believed would be better spent on current talent. TK wanted to put the whole thing on the episode, but honored his friend and announcer’s wishes instead.

The Human Suplex Machine posted a similar message for anyone who didn’t want to watch an eight-minute video:

The banner reveal was shown on tonight’s show, and Taz briefly expressed his gratitude as Mark Briscoe entered the House that Extreme Built:

Some video of the ceremony has made it online as well:

Congrats to Taz. Great gestures all around on this one.
