Stolen 10-Day-Old Baby Recovered, Suspect Held in Zamfara Baby Factory Bust

The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued a 10-day-old infant stolen from the General Hospital, Kaura Namoda, and arrested a suspect in connection with what authorities have described as an alleged human trafficking and baby factory operation.

The Command's spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the theft was reported at the Kaura Namoda Division three days before the child was recovered. Hospital staff on duty at the time of the incident were subsequently invited for questioning to aid ongoing investigations.

On May 15, 2026, at approximately 8:35 a.m., operatives successfully traced and recovered the infant at a nearby hamlet, the identity of which was withheld by police. The baby was found unharmed and has since been reunited with the biological parents, bringing relief to a family that had endured days of anguish since the disappearance.

One suspect is currently in police custody and undergoing further investigation, though the Command declined to disclose the individual's identity at this stage of the probe.

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Bello, commended members of the public whose timely tip-offs proved instrumental in the successful recovery of the child. He reaffirmed the Command's resolve to combat human trafficking, baby factory activities, and all other forms of criminality across the state, assuring that further updates would be made available as investigations progress.
