Some OnlyFans Creators May Be Using Chatbots, Reuters Says

The Story Part of the appeal of OnlyFans — besides being able to access exclusive content from people you find hot — is the possibility of, for a fee, interacting with them directly. Chatting with your favorite porn star, or even sexting with them, can be a serious thrill. But what if you’re actually talking with an AI chatbot without realizing it? That’s the question raised by a recent Reuters article, which reports that various companies are offering OnlyFans performers access to flirting-oriented chatbots. While that’s certainly an impressive thing to claim, it does run counter to the aforementioned ability, on the part of OnlyFans subscribers, to create “authentic connections” with the adult stars and models whose pages they’ve subscribed to. Furthermore, it’s behavior that’s explicitly banned by the site. Their terms of service have been updated recently enough on this account to address the rise of AI chatbots. Per the Reuters article on the subject, they state: “You cannot use an AI chatbot to write chats or direct messages.” RELATED: Your Next Trainer Might Be on OnlyFans According to Reuters, FlirtFlow is only one of multiple options out there for performers who don’t have the bandwidth (or desire) to engage in these conversations themselves. Of course, this isn’t exactly new — it’s been reported that OF stars have outsourced this work to employees in the past. But now you might not be talking to a human at all.  There’s not really any current way of knowing how widespread this behavior might be, but given the popularity of chatbots, it has to be something that many OnlyFans creators have at least considered.  The Lesson The rise of AI has had significant impacts on all kinds of different aspects of our lives, and the possibility that a textual message you’re receiving has been written by a chatbot or other AI software is not a small one. The use of AI in dating and flirting contexts seems poised to be a significantly transformative one. Companion Bots It’s too early to say how this will play out in a larger scope, but the degrading of trust in people’s messages, and the likelihood of people accusing others of using AI, seem like they will likely increase — even in cases where the person isn’t using a chatbot. And while it may be easy to fault OnlyFans creators turning to AI rather than interacting with fans directly, it’s also worth remembering that many of these conversations are likely unpleasant. From an OF creator’s perspective, letting a chatbot handle DM exchanges that could be graphically sexual, and/or emotionally intense with potentially demanding customers makes a lot of sense — but it also does undermine the premise of the OnlyFans model.
