Emulate Saraki: Split Campuses of Kwara University of Education into 3 Senatorial Districts, Hon. Lukman Salahudeen tells AA

I commend Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for completing and commissioning the Osi Campus of Kwara State University (KWASU), a project initiated by the visionary Saraki-led administration. This remarkable achievement underscores the enduring legacy of past leaders whose dedication to education and infrastructure continues to positively impact the state.

In light of this, I urge the Governor to adopt an inclusive strategy for his proposed Kwara University of Education by distributing its campuses across the three senatorial districts. This approach will ensure balanced development across the state, much like what we are witnessing today with the commissioning of the Osi campus. Such a gesture, even if not fully realized within his administration, will lay a strong foundation for successors to build upon and claim as their own legacy projects.

Without the foundation laid by the Saraki-led administration, it is fair to say that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq might not have a single uncontroversial legacy project commissioned in the education sector of the state.

It is crucial to note that, since 2019, the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration has yet to initiate and successfully complete a major legacy project free of controversy. Projects like KWASU, unjustly criticized during the Otoge campaign—alongside the Aviation College—have now become pride-worthy examples of Kwara State’s strides in educational development. These accomplishments highlight the foresight and vision of past administrations, particularly Saraki’s, which championed equitable access to education through the strategic spread of KWASU campuses across the senatorial districts.

I humbly call on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to emulate this inclusive approach in establishing the Kwara University of Education. While starting afresh may not be feasible, the conversion of existing State Colleges of Education is a commendable step. However, this effort must be executed without the undue concentration of resources and development in Kwara Central, ensuring fairness and inclusivity across all regions of the state.

Finally, I congratulate the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration on achieving its first uncontroversial project completion—a success firmly rooted in the foundation laid by the Saraki-led administration. I hope this signals a turning point, prompting a shift towards a more inclusive and visionary governance approach that prioritizes equitable development for all Kwarans.
