National Water Company announced the completion of 12 capital and operational projects in Makkah and the holy sites at a total cost exceeding SAR 821 million as part of preparations for the 1447H Hajj season.

The projects included more than 24,000 meters of water and sewage pipelines and networks aimed at enhancing infrastructure efficiency and increasing operational capacity in areas that experience heavy pilgrim traffic during Hajj.

According to the company, the projects focused on upgrading sewage networks in Mina while also implementing water distribution improvements across the holy sites and several districts in Makkah to ensure reliable supply and higher-quality services.

The initiatives also included advanced pressure-control systems within water networks to maintain stable operations during peak consumption periods throughout the pilgrimage season.

As part of its digital transformation strategy, the company introduced several smart operational solutions, including pressure-monitoring devices, water measurement systems, and remotely controlled digital valve technologies.

Officials stated that these advanced technologies will improve operational efficiency, strengthen network reliability, and accelerate response times to operational changes during Hajj.

The projects form part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and service readiness for pilgrims in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which places strong emphasis on improving Hajj services and pilgrimage experiences.

The company confirmed that all resources and operational capabilities have been mobilized to ensure reliable and sustainable water and environmental services for pilgrims as they perform their rituals safely and comfortably.
