Riyadh continues accelerating its infrastructure and transport development plans with the launch of a major new road development package aimed at improving mobility, reducing congestion, and enhancing quality of life across the capital.

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City announced the fourth phase of its Ring Roads and Major Axes Development Program, with a total investment of SAR 9.8 billion.

The move reflects Riyadh’s continued commitment to upgrading infrastructure in line with rapid urban growth and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The new package includes the development of four major roads with a combined length of 40 kilometers.

The projects will feature 14 major intersections, 33 bridges, 5 tunnels, and 6 pedestrian bridges.

Once completed, the total daily traffic capacity is expected to exceed 950,000 vehicles, significantly improving traffic flow across key areas of the city.

Four Major Roads to Be Upgraded

The projects include the southern section of Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Road, spanning 12 kilometers, with 6 major intersections, 22 bridges, and 3 tunnels. The road will support up to 350,000 vehicles per day.

The second project covers the central section of Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al-Awwal Road, extending 9 kilometers and including 3 major intersections, 6 bridges, and 2 tunnels, with capacity for 200,000 vehicles daily.

The third project focuses on Prince Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Road, covering 6 kilometers with 2 major intersections, 2 bridges, and 4 pedestrian bridges, supporting 200,000 vehicles per day.

The fourth project includes the western section of Najm Al-Din Al-Ayyubi Road, stretching 13 kilometers with 3 major intersections, 3 bridges, and 2 pedestrian bridges, also accommodating 200,000 vehicles daily.

Improving Mobility and Reducing Congestion

This new package extends Riyadh’s broader road development strategy aimed at building a more advanced and efficient transportation network.

The projects are designed to reduce daily travel times, ease traffic congestion, and improve connectivity across the city.

They will also support Riyadh’s ongoing urban expansion, enhance quality of life, and strengthen the capital’s competitiveness as a global city.

The initiative reflects Riyadh’s long-term vision of becoming one of the world’s leading cities in infrastructure, smart mobility, and urban development.
