Fubara resist impeachment

Governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday vowed to resist any impeachment move against him as he accused the police of shooting at him.

Fubara, who said the attack occurred when on his way to inspect the State House of Assembly Complex that was gutted by fire last night, insisted that he has committed no offence to warrant being impeached by the State House of Assembly.

The governor spoke while addressing a crowd of supporters in Port Harcourt, Rivers. He named a senior officer in the Rivers State Police Command as the leader of the team that was deployed to obstruct his access to the complex.

He said he does not care about being impeached but vowed to resist an unjust process. The governor assured the people of the state of getting the dividends of democracy.

Fubara said; “Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment.

“Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you get the dividends of democracy. At the appropriate time I will address the press.”
