Real Madrid, Barcelona set for transfer battle over Osimhen

Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are preparing to go head-to-head in a potential summer transfer race for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

Both clubs are keen on signing the Nigerian forward, who has been in outstanding form for Galatasaray this season. Osimhen has registered 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across the Süper Lig and Champions League, reinforcing his status as one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers.

According to reports, Madrid are looking to recruit a traditional number nine to maximise the attacking potential of Kylian Mbappé by shifting him to a wide role. Osimhen is viewed as an ideal fit for that system, though the club must navigate financial considerations, with Galatasaray reportedly valuing the striker at over €100 million.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are intensifying their search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who could leave at the end of the season. However, Barcelona’s financial constraints and stiff competition from their arch-rivals could complicate any potential deal for the Nigerian star.
