WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR AUG. 19

I’m tough, rough, ready and I’m able to pick myself up from under this table. Don’t you stick no sign on me, I got no label. I’m a little sick, unsure, unsound and unstable, but I’m fighting my way back to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with the usual montage of talent arriving at the arena.

Randy Orton makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He asks us to bear with him for a minute because it’s been a while since he opened the show and introduces the show.

He moves on to talking about hitting GUNTHER with the RKO after he disrespected his father and grandfather, and—

Enter GUNTHER.

He says the only thing Randy and everyone here needs to do is to shut up. He wants to know what exactly Orton is celebrating, is it hitting an RKO on him from behind? He tells Randy to celebrate because it’s going to be the only thing he has to celebrate, and all he’s done is make this very, very personal.

That’s never going to happen again and since everyone knows how dangerous the RKO is, he has no option but to leave Orton a bloody mess in Berlin. Randy says if he keeps running his mouth he’s just going to make his flight to Berlin more uncomfortable since he’s gonna have a size 15 double extra wide boot up his ass the whole time!

GUNTHER’s waves him over to fight but Ludwig Kaiser tries to blindside the Viper! Randy blocks and sends him packing, trading punches with GUNTHER, Ludwig with a chop block and the heels have Orton on the back foot!

We get a recap of Pete Dunne beating Sheamus and smashing his hand with a shillelagh last week.

Sheamus is interviewed backstage with his hand heavily bandaged. He raises his hand and says tonight there will be retribution and sneaky Pete will surely go after his injured paw, but this one-armed bandit has a few more tricks left in his bag.

Sheamus makes his entrance and we go to break.

Back from commercial we get a recap of Imperium’s attack on Randy Orton, because Raw is three hours long. (Three hours long.)

Pete Dunne vs. Sheamus

Dunne sidesteps a Brogue Kick, right hands into the ropes, Sheamus blocks and takes him down with a lariat! Beats of the Bodhran denied, side headlock, shot off, drop down, leapfrog reversed into an Alabama Slam. Pete recovers, wishbones the fingers, taking him down, triangle choke but the Celtic Warrior deadlifts him into a powerbomb backbreaker!

Blasting Dunne off the apron and into the announce desk, Sheamus high fives Pat McAfee and the distraction lets Pete dropkick him into the steel steps and stomp his injured hand to send us to break!

Back from commercial, Dunne with wrist-clutch chest kicks, paintbrushing Sheamus, but the Celtic Warrior wants more! Sheamus asks him if he’s Butch or a bitch and Pete unloads with vicious forearms! Double axhandle, lariat, corner lariat, scooping Dunne up, powerslam connects!

Holding his injured hand, Sheamus is fired up, Beats of the Bodhran countered with a shoulder armbreaker on the bad hand and Beats of the Bodhran from Dunne! Finally Sheamus gets his Beats in, a second set pulling Pete halfway over the ropes to boot! Step-up enzuigiri, moonsault countered with a knee, cover for two!

Fireman’s carry, up top, Dunne slips out and hits a Liger Bomb... NOPE! Trapping Sheamus’ injured hand inside the turnbuckle pad, pump kick to the bad hand! Celtic Warrior fires up and rips the whole pad off...

Sheamus wins by pinfall with a Brogue Kick.

New Day are backstage and Kofi Kingston checks in with Xavier Woods asking if everything’s okay.

Woods says he wishes Kofi had asked him before bringing Odyssey Jones in, because it feels like they’re replacing Big E, but Kingston says he’s not replacing E, they’re not bringing him into New Day, and they’re family but Odyssey is in the same boat they were when they started and he just wants to do for him what he wishes someone had done for them all those years ago.

Xavier is swayed, Odyssey comes over pumped and gives him a big bear hug and we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a Bron Breakker hype reel.

A recap of Ivy Nile decisively turning on Maxxine Dupri to side with American Made last week follows.

Backstage, Chad Gable officially welcomes her to the team and Ivy says she gave Maxxine a chance but she got what was coming to her and if she couldn’t realize she was holding her back, that’s on her. Gable says they’re gonna finish Alpha Academy tonight and then go back to going after the Wyatt 6.

Maxxine Dupri makes her entrance to send us to break.

Ivy Nile vs. Maxxine Dupri

Dupri with a dropkick, taking Nile to the floor, throwing her into the barricade a few times, fisherman suplex on the floor! Throwing her over the announce desk, she’s fired up, throwing Ivy back inside! Roundhouse kick takes Dupri down, mounted punches, throwing her into the corner and hammering away!

The lights start going down stepwise,

Nikki Cross appears as the ring fills with smoke, American Made slide in to defend her, the Wyatts are on the apron and Cross attacks Nile!

The match goes to a no contest, presumably?

The Wyatts surround Gable and Uncle Howdy hits Sister Abigail on him!

CM Punk is shown walking backstage to send us to break.

The Terror Twins cut a promo backstage about how they’re going to put Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio through the mat in Berlin.

CM Punk makes his entrance with a strap around his neck and gets on the mic.

He says we have a lot to get to but it’s great to be alive in South Florida on a Monday night. He asks if his hair looks okay and if the bags under his eyes are getting bigger and says he didn’t get a lot of sleep last night because he has exciting news to share with us, but before that he wants to tell us a story.

He says we’re on a hot streak because of the crowd, and talks about a lady in a wheelchair he met that told him she just defeated cancer and somehow he was a source of strength for her. That makes him think of two of his friends fighting cancer, and then he talks about meeting a lady from Taiwan who flew fifteen hours for a picture with him.

A young gentleman with a sign that said he traveled five thousand miles from Jordan to see CM Punk, and that means something to him because he missed us for ten years. So he got excited to come here to Florida for the first time in a very long time to share some news, and it’s fans that drive him, that make him take the time, that hand him bracelets that took time to make, and maybe that’s a Taylor Swift thing but face it, he’s Taylor Swift for men.

He has a handful of such bracelets and moves from talking about love to talking about hate, the flipside of the coin. Drew McIntyre says he hates him and wants to wash his hands and walk away, but he made it personal! Drew says he hates him, but he thinks he loves him, and he knows he’s obsessed with him to the point of wearing a bracelet with his beautiful wife’s name on it.

And this brings him to the news he has to share. His biggest hater is his biggest fan, so he went and made Drew a bracelet. He takes the leather strap off his neck and says he want to Adam Pearce and unless McIntyre is chicken, they’re having a strap match in Berlin! They will be tethered wrist to wrist and you have to touch each turnbuckle in turn.

He wants to leave lasting scars and ensure Drew can’t forget the name CM Punk.

Enter Drew McIntyre.

He says Punk embarrassed him last week whipping him like a petulant child and now he challenges him to a strap match? He asks CM if he’s started drinking and accepts the match! Drew tells him to lose the strap and they’ll give ‘em a show. Punk goes so far as to offer a trade, the strap for the bracelet.

Drew thinks it over and slowly slides the bracelet off his wrist before laughing and saying “no” and that Punk is a liar and hypocrite and will whip him like a dog if he goes with it. And besides, Larry and AJ are much safer at home with Drew McIntyre! CM says he won’t be safe in Berlin, because it’s not Punk that’s attached to Drew, it’s Drew that’s attached to Punk and wow that line didn’t land like you wanted it to CM ol’ pal.

Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio get their own equal and opposite promo about how they’re going to beat Rhea and Damian at Bash in Berlin.

New Day and Odyssey Jones make their entrance and we go to break.

New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) & Odyssey Jones vs. the Final Testament (Akam, Karrion Kross, & Rezar)

Kross and Kingston, New Day man in control early, Scarlett Bordeaux runs interference and Karrion hits a Death Valley Driver! Tag to Rezar, Blu-Ray connects and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Kofi reaching for a tag, Karrion with an exploder suplex to cut him off! Elbow takes Jones off the apron, tag to Akam, Kingston dodges and the Author goes hard into the post! Crawling for the tag, Odyssey gets it and Woods isn’t happy about it! Jones runs over the Final Testament lads!

AOP with a double whip but Jones takes ‘em down with a double clothesline! Falling headbutt, cover... KROSS BREAKS IT UP! Limit Breaker gets a Rock Bottom, Odyssey presses the attack...

New Day & Odyssey Jones win by pinfall with a Bossman Slam from Jones on an Author.

Post-match, Xavier is over his hurt feelings about the tag and celebrates with Odyssey and Kofi.

The Terror Twins are chatting backstage and Rhea Ripley says this feels like a trap and Damian Priest agrees.

We get a memorial video package for Afa Anoa’i and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Adam Pearce meets with the Miz in Gorilla.

He says everything in him is screaming that Bronson Reed should get suspended but he respects the A-Lister’s desire for the fight but he won’t if Miz tells him he wants the match. Miz says he doesn’t want the match, actually, but Bronson took R-Truth out, one of his only friends in this business, so he doesn’t want to do it, but he has to.

“Big” Bronson Reed” vs. the Miz (No Disqualification Match)

Miz charges in and gets freight trained by Reed, to the floor, beating the big man with a chair but he shrugs it off! The A-Lister manages to post him and goes under the ring for plunder, throwing chairs on chairs, kendo sticks on kendo sticks, and one solitary trash can into the ring before pulling a table out to boot!

Sliding the table in the ring, Miz meets Reed with kendo stick shots but the big man blocks, lands a headbutt, and breaks a kendo stick over his knee! Smashing Miz into the trash can, smashing the trash can into the Miz, Reed paces and sets up a chair, sitting on it while stepping on the A-Lister’s head as we go to break!

Back from commercial, Miz lands a tornado DDT onto a chair... AT ONE! Death Valley Driver through a table leaned in the corner, Bronson off the top...

Bronson Reed wins by pinfall with the 747 Splash.

Post-match, Braun Strowman makes his entrance to square up with Bronson Reed!

Sheamus is interviewed backstage and admits he’s banged up and needs a drink but he and Pete Dunne put on a banger and—

Ludwig Kaiser rolls up asking why we’re wasting time talking to the opening act when the main event is right here. Sheamus challenges him to another match later but says for right now he’s gonna enjoy watching him take an RKO tonight.

Dominik Mysterio is walking backstage when Liv Morgan rolls up to suck face with him on our way to break.

Back from commercial, Bron Breakker is interviewed backstage.

He says it’s a good thing he went to a highly educated university because he’s heard there’s going to be a tournament to find his number one contender and it’s funny because clearly Adam Pearce just wants to slow him down and it’s not his fault he’s a badass and a genetic freak and the dogs are barking.

And it’s not his fault that he earned this Intercontinental Championship, but the poor soul that wins this tournament is going to get speared and take the beating of a lifetime, and that will be his fault.

Judgment Day attacks Damian Priest during his entrance but he’s ready for them and fends the three of them off! He goes to take Finn Balor out but Carlito makes the save! Rhea Ripley attacks Dominik Mysterio from behind and takes him out with a headbutt! Clearing the announce desk, but Liv Morgan attacks from behind!

Judgment Day holds Priest down in the ring while Liv beats Rhea down on the announce desk! Throwing Ripley into the steel steps, Balor takes Priest out with Coup de Grace! Oblivion on Rhea! Frog splash from Dom onto Damian and the All-New, All-Different Judgment Day stands tall over the Terror Twins and we go to break!

Back from commercial, we get a recap of the fracas we just saw.

Judgment Day cuts a promo in front of a camera with a dirty lens crowing about how they just beat the crap out of Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley.

Damage CTRL (IYO SKY & Kairi Sane) vs. Pure Fusion Collective (Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark) vs. Unholy Union (Alby Fyre & Isla Dawn) (c) (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship)

Chaos before the bell, Baszler and Sane to start, Kairi sends her packing, joined by SKY to hold court, dives take out the other two teams and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Stark choking Sane in the ropes, cheap shot from Sonya Deville at ringside! Things develop, Fyre up top, Kairi with a blind tag, Damage CTRL double-team her with a superplex! Sane covers her but Dawn breaks it up! Baszler lighting Kairi up, catching her with the Kirifuda Clutch, Sane backs her into the corner and lands a backfist! Calling for it, headed up top, champs tag in...

Unholy Union win by pinfall, retaining the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

GUNTHER is shown giving Ludwig Kaiser a pep talk backstage ahead of our main event.

Randy Orton is shown taping his wrists to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Jey Uso is interviewed backstage.

He says Sami Zayn is taking some time to get his head together and he encouraged Jey to try for singles gold in the meantime and so he put his name in for the Intercontinental Championship tournament.

Michael Cole informs us that this is Pat McAfee’s last night on Raw and we get a montage of, uh... “highlights” from this run of his.

But also Pat will be back in January for the Netflix debut.

Randy Orton makes his entrance and we go to break.

Ludwig Kaiser vs. Randy Orton

Circling, a bit of mat grappling, headlock takeover from Orton. Action to the floor but GUNTHER distracts Randy before he can back suplex Kaiser into the announce desk and Ludwig kicks his leg out from under his leg! Kaiser with a back suplex into the desk of his own! Kicking his leg into the steel steps, we go to break!

Back from commercial, Kaiser in control, working Orton over in the ring, targeting the injured knee. Randy manages to send Ludwig over the ropes and to the floor and rolls out after him, ginger on the knee but throwing hands and headbutts! Fighting in the shadow of the steps, right hands from Ludwig!

Breaking the count, running around the ring, head of steam but Orton drops him with a lariat! Back suplexes into the announce desk, back inside, snap scoop powerslam connects! Hanging DDT countered with a Stunner, enzuigiri from Kaiser, cover for two! Superplex from Randy, fired up and waiting, going to that special place but Ludwig rolls him up... NOPE!

The Viper pops up...

Randy Orton wins by pinfall with the RKO.

GUNTHER slides into the ring but Orton cuts him off and they start brawling! Trading punches, Randy posts him and lays right hands in and we’re outta time!

That’s the show, folks.
