Police Rescue Sister of Former Minister Adebayo Adelabu and Her Twin Sons in Ibadan After being kidnapped

The Nigerian Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a kidnapping incident in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, in the Challenge area of Ibadan South West Local Government Area while Mrs. John-Paul was reportedly on her way to drop her children at school.

During the rescue operation, police operatives engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun duel, which led to the neutralisation of two members of the criminal gang. Two firearms were also recovered from the scene.

According to police sources, sustained intelligence gathering and tactical pressure forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with security operatives, ultimately resulting in the successful rescue of the victims.

Authorities confirmed that the rescued victims have been taken to safety and are receiving appropriate care following the traumatic experience.

The police have intensified efforts to track down other members of the gang who reportedly escaped during the operation, as investigations continue into the kidnapping network operating within the area.
