OVER 20 PASSENGERS BURNT TO DEATH AT MAYA/LANLATE JUNCTION, OYO STATE

No fewer than twenty passengers were burnt beyond recognition on Friday Evening in an accident involving two vehicles, a commercial bus and a Sienna.

The accident occurred at Lanlate,Maya Junction in Ibarapa East Local Government area of Oyo State.

The two vehicles were reportedly moving in opposing directions, collided and immediately caught fire.

An eye witness account said only two passengers survived the accident while others and the vehicles were razed beyond recognition.

The Chairman, Ibarapa East Local Government, Hon Gbenga Obalowo who led a rescue team to the scene of the accident described it as pathetic and unfortunate.

He sympathized with the families of those who d!ed in the incident noting that, the two survivors are currently receiving medical attention at Awojobi Hospital in Eruwa.

 The council boss revealed that the corpses of those burnt have been deposited at a morgue.

Hon Obalowo appealed to motorists particularly Commercial drivers to be more careful while on the wheel.
