Ondo Deploys More Resources as Recovery Operation Intensifies at NAF Crash Site in Igbokoda

The Ondo State Government has deployed additional resources to the scene of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in the Igbokoda axis of Ilaje Local Government Area, as efforts to locate and recover the occupants of the submerged aircraft intensify.

The development follows the directive of the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for sustained state support and coordination with relevant agencies involved in the recovery operation.

Leading the state’s efforts at the scene on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, were the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response and Safety Enforcement, Hon. (Prince) Wellington Oriade Adebawo, and the Technical Assistant to the Governor on Erosion Control, Hon. Elisha Ebijimi.

The two officials were on the water at the crash location in Igbokoda, coordinating the recovery operation and working alongside the officials of NEMA, SEMA, the Nigerian Air Force, Navy and local residents, in their efforts to recover the submerged aircraft as well as the passengers and crew members.

The Ondo State Government is leaving no stones unturned in ensuring that the recovery operation is carried out as effectively and safely as possible.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has continued to monitor developments surrounding the incident and has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to supporting the ongoing operation until every available effort has been exhausted.

As the operation continues, the state government urges members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information, while relying on official updates from the relevant authorities.
