NSCDC Elevates 113 Officers, Warns Against Lobbying For Posting

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has decorated 113 personnel promoted from Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) to Commandant of Corps (CC).

The ceremony, held on Thursday at the NSCDC Headquarters in Abuja, was presided over by NSCDC Commandant-General (CG) Prof. Ahmed Audi, who cautioned the newly promoted officers against lobbying for posting.

“Between today and next week, your postings will be out, and with this promotion, you must leave your current station for another, so be prepared. Don’t lobby for posting but accept your posting and move because you don’t know what God has planned for you,” Audi told the officers.

The 113 commandants are part of the 5,859 NSCDC personnel promoted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board (CDCFIB) in December 2025.

According to Audi, the elevation pushes the number of commandants in the corps to over 300, with a total personnel strength of about 63,000.

While congratulating the promoted officers, Audi reminded them that “to whom much is given, much is expected”.

He also urged officers to remain composed, avoid indiscipline, and provide tangible solutions to security challenges.

Audi noted that before his administration, some officers had remained in the same rank for over a decade, leading to low morale.

“Because of this, the morale of personnel was low…However, the story is different as of today,” he said.

Represented by the Secretary to the CDCFIB, retired Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Jubril, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo commended the promotions, stressing their significance in addressing security challenges across the country.

He said the newly promoted officers would also assume responsibilities in VIP protection and escort, urging them to demonstrate their readiness to President Bola Tinubu.

One of the decorated officers, Commandant Hussaini Pama, expressed gratitude to the President, the Minister of Interior, the CDCFIB, and the NSCDC CG for the recognition.

Pama described the promotion as both a motivation and an added responsibility, pledging to intensify efforts in protecting lives and property.
