Missed Black Friday? Plusnet will still PAY you £180 to switch to its broadband deals

Black Friday might be over, but Plusnet's broadband deals aren't yet.

Plusnet is still offering £180 to anyone who switches to its broadband plans. Even better, the telecom has a slew of deals available across its full-fibre packages — so it's one of the most affordable times to sign up for a Plusnet contract.

Whether you're looking to cut your monthly broadband bills or switch to faster full-fibre speeds so you can stream films, back up photos to the cloud, and more, at peak times — it's going to be tough to beat the latest broadband deal from Plusnet.

The broadband firm will send you a £180 Reward Card when you sign up to either a full-fibre 500 or 900 broadband deal. The Reward Card is a prepaid Mastercard that can be spent anywhere that accepts Mastercard, which is, pretty much, anywhere.

That means you'll be able to use the free £180 to put towards your Christmas shopping this season, treat yourself to something new, or even use the prepaid Mastercard to take money off your monthly broadband bills with Plunset — removing any cost for the first few months, depending on the exact package you've picked.

However, time is ticking — you only have until 11:59pm tonight before these deals pass you by.

Plusnet relies on Openreach's nationwide network of broadband, so if you're able to connect to BT, Sky Broadband, TalkTalk, and Vodafone, to name just a few — you'll be able to switch to Plusnet without an issue. Since it doesn't own and operate its own full-fibre network, like Virgin Media and smaller brands like Hyperoptic, you're reliant on Openreach to upgrade your local area to full-fibre to access the fastest broadband speeds available.

Plusnet will pay you up to £180 to switch to its latest deals

Plusnet is offering you up to £180 Reward Card to anyone who signs up for its latest raft of full-fibre broadband deals. If you're able to connect to fibre broadband with BT, Sky, or TalkTalk, then you'll be able to enjoy the same speeds with Plusnet. Its Full Fibre 500 plan is a particularly good deal at £28.99 a month, with average download speeds of 500Mbps — and a guaranteed minimum of 275Mbps. Plusnet has slashed the £20 one-off activation fee, so you'll pay nothing for postage and activation of your new internet package

If you're part of the majority, you'll be able to upgrade to Plusnet's Full Fibre 500 package. As the name suggests, this broadband package delivers blazing-fast download speeds of 500Mbps — several times quicker than the average UK home connection from just a few years ago. For context, Netflix only requires 5Mbps to stream in 1080p HD, and around 25Mbps for 4K.

With 500Mbps, your home can comfortably support heavy-duty internet use on multiple devices at once. Ultra-HD streaming, online gaming, large file downloads, cloud backups, smart home devices, and video calls can all run simultaneously without slowdown or buffering. It’s an excellent choice for busy households, remote workers, or anyone who simply wants consistently fast, reliable fibre broadband.

Full-fibre plans from Plusnet carry a 24-month minimum term, so you won't be able to switch to another provider or deal without paying an early termination fee for the first two years. Plusnet is a little ahead of the curve and doesn't include a traditional landline with any of its plans.

You'll enjoy unlimited download usage, free activation, and a Wi-Fi router, dubbed the Plusnet Hub Two.

As you'd expect, given the fact that BT is the parent company for Plusnet, its Hub Two shares many of the same features as the BT Smart Hub 2, so expect better handling of dozens of smart home gadgets.

For those with a home brimming with video doorbells, smart speakers, Wi-Fi-connected thermostats, and more... this should provide a big boost for connectivity.

Between the Wi-Fi router and the extra bandwidth provided by the full-fibre connection, you should avoid slowdowns and buffering.

Plusnet will send a £180 Reward Card to anyone who signs-up for its Full Fibre 500, and Full Fibre 900 plans.

If you don't need quite that much coverage with the Full Fibre 500 and Full Fibre 900 plans, Plusnet is also offering other rewards cards for smaller packages:

Traditional fibre broadband uses fibre optic cables to the street cabinet, then relies on copper phone lines for the final connection to your home. This combination of fibre and copper is older technology, meaning speeds are slower and can vary depending on distance from the cabinet.

On the other hand, full fibre uses fibre optic cables all the way to your home. This provides consistently faster, more reliable internet, capable of handling multiple devices, 4K streaming, online gaming, and smart home technology.

If you're unsure about what broadband speed you need in your home. We've put together the average download speeds for an hour-long television show episode in Standard Definition (SD), roughly 450MB in size.

  • 69Mbps, the average broadband speed in the UK: 56 seconds
  • 150Mbps, the lowest speed available with most full-fibre packages: 24 seconds
  • 500Mbps, widely available from all full-fibre providers: 7 seconds
  • 1Gbps (or 1,000Mbps) is not available from all broadband companies: 4 seconds
