Men, When You Check Her Phone, Don’t Only Look for Another Man

All of a sudden, we started arguing about money, something we never did as a married couple. Nothing I gave my wife was enough. She complained about market money and even complained about our kids’ canteen fees, an amount that was fixed. She said the canteen money wasn’t enough. That was when I knew something was wrong.

I asked if she was living with dwarfs who stole money from her at night, because I didn’t understand why, all of a sudden, whenever she had to give money to help the house, she would complain. She said her salary was not enough and that her family had started taxing her. We both send a portion of our salaries home every month. It wasn’t a new thing.

One day, I sent her mobile money to pay for some items she had to buy for me. She came home without the items. She told me she was busy at work, so she couldn’t go out to get them. Five days later, we were still arguing about the items. She then said, “Let me be honest with you, Momo fraudsters stole the money from me, but I was too embarrassed to say it.”

That sounded like the eighth wonder of the world—Momo fraudsters succeeding in defrauding my wife? Imposicant!

So I started putting my eyes on the ground to see what was going on.

One dawn, I woke up and saw her entering the washroom. I turned to my side and slept again. I woke up later to see she wasn’t there by my side. I tiptoed to the washroom and eavesdropped. I could hear the sound of a game from her phone and moaning in her voice. I pushed the door open, and she was seated on the toilet playing Aviator.

I snatched the phone from her, and that was when the truth came out. Her Momo notifications were all about betting. She had lost almost GHC 600 that dawn when I snatched the phone. What could she do apart from saying sorry? I asked when it started and how.

She had been doing it for close to a year, and I didn’t notice. A colleague at her office introduced her to it.

I deleted the apps, about four of them, and closed her accounts. I am currently monitoring her finances, including her salary. It’s hard work, but I have to before the worst happens. So guys, when you check your wife’s phone looking for evidence of cheating, please look out for evidence of betting too. Our women are not as innocent as we presume them to be.
