Mbah Congratulates Yilwatda, Basiru, Nwoye, Other APC Executives, Commends Tinubu for Peaceful Convention

Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has congratulated the newly elected members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress following the party’s 8th National Convention held in Abuja.

In a statement on Friday, the governor described the new executives as “round pegs in round holes,” expressing confidence that their emergence would strengthen the party and position it for greater success ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among those elected at the convention are the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda; National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru; Deputy National Chairman (South), Ben Nwoye; and Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, among other members of the newly constituted NWC.

Mbah said the leadership team possessed the necessary experience in party politics and demonstrated commitment to strengthening democratic governance and advancing the ideals of the ruling party.

According to him, their election reflected the confidence party stakeholders have in their capacity to guide the APC towards greater achievements and electoral victories in the future.

The governor also commended Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for providing the leadership that ensured the smooth and rancour-free conduct of the convention.

He noted that the peace, orderliness and spirit of unity that characterised the event were clear demonstrations of Tinubu’s leadership style and inclusive approach to governance.

Mbah said the successful conduct of the convention had once again set a benchmark for internal democracy and party organisation in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“Democracy is about the people, and we have demonstrated that tonight. The success of this convention shows that as a party, we are not only modelling good governance and implementing reforms that are repositioning our economy, but we have also shown that the APC is a model in party politics and that we are one big family,” the governor said.

He further pledged his support to the newly elected party leadership and urged members of the APC across the country to rally behind them in order to consolidate the gains recorded during the party’s congresses and the national convention.

The APC held its 8th National Convention in Abuja where party delegates and stakeholders from across the country gathered to elect a new National Working Committee to steer the affairs of the ruling party.
