The all-new Mazda CX-80 achieved the maximum rating of five stars in the latest Euro NCAP safety test.

Mazda’s new SUV, which has seven seats and is the leading model in its class, achieved a result of 92% in the protection of adult passengers and 88% in the protection of children. It also achieved 84% in the area of protection for vulnerable road users.

The Mazda CX-80’s outstanding result of 92% in the adult occupant protection category includes the maximum number of points in the side and rear impact tests, with a satisfactory level of protection confirmed in the frontal crash test with full width and rigid obstacle. During the testing of the side impact into an obstacle, as well as the more demanding test of the side impact into a pillar, good protection of all critical parts of the body was noted, which resulted in the maximum number of points in this part of the evaluation.

In the child protection category, Mazda’s new SUV also achieved the maximum number of points in the frontal and side impact tests, based on tests carried out with protection systems for children aged six and ten. Checking the correct installation of child seats (CRS installation check) also received the highest marks, resulting in an excellent overall score of 88%.

The new Mazda CX-80 achieved an impressive score of 84% in the category of protecting vulnerable road users. The system of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) showed a good reaction to pedestrians in front of and behind the vehicle, as well as to cyclists, which includes protection against so-called. “dooring” situations when the door suddenly opens in front of a cyclist approaching from behind.

The Mazda CX-80’s comprehensive range of i-Activsense driver support technologies contributed to a strong score of 79% in the driver assistance system category. The vehicle scored maximum points in the lane-keeping system category, which includes lane departure prevention, lane-keeping assist, and driver-vehicle communication. The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB Car-to-Car) system also received excellent marks in a number of areas related to approaching other vehicles, as well as when swerving across the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The fifth star was also contributed by Mazda’s Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, which forms the basis for the CX-80’s front longitudinal engine arrangement and rear-wheel drive, as well as its excellent driving characteristics. The rear-axle-focused all-wheel drive system combines the stability and traction characteristic of all-wheel drive with the neutral cornering behaviour typical of rear-wheel drive.

With three rows of seats, the new Mazda CX-80 is the most spacious model in Mazda’s European range. Made in Japan with an emphasis on comfort and versatility, this model combines an advanced design based on Japanese aesthetics with an extremely adaptable interior space, cutting-edge technology, and features characteristic of a premium SUV in its class, with distinctive driving characteristics that characterize every Mazda.
