Man Dies After Donating Bl££d, Collapses in Front of Wife and Four Children

A man has tragically lost his life after collapsing in front of his wife and four children shortly after donating blood for the first time.

The man, identified as Paolo Accorroni, had donated blood to a charitable organisation on Saturday, March 21, after signing up to become a regular donor.

According to reports, after returning home from the donation, Paolo began to feel weak. His family initially believed it was a mild reaction to the blood donation, so he went to lie down and rest.

On the same day, he had planned a busy schedule. He was the head of a parish scout group and was expected to meet them that afternoon before attending his son Mattia’s football match later in the evening.

However, when he got up around lunchtime, he suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed in front of his wife, Nadia, and their children. His wife immediately called emergency services.

Paramedics arrived at their home in Filottrano and found Paolo in cardiac arrest. Despite performing CPR for 40 minutes, they were unable to revive him.

His body has since been taken to a funeral home.

Paolo was known in his community as a dedicated individual. He worked for a road construction company, served as a judo sensei, and volunteered with the civil protection emergency response team.

Following the tragic news, local football club Filottranese, where he was actively involved, cancelled their scheduled match against Portuali Calcio Ancona as a mark of respect.

Paying tribute, the club’s president, Enzo Pittura, said: “We will try to cancel tomorrow’s sporting commitments as well, as a sign of support for our player Mattia, but also out of respect for his father.

“Mattia called me immediately after the tragedy. We are all in shock. Paolo was a wonderful man.”

“So many away trips and matches together, always on those stands with a smile and the determination to be there at all costs.”

Paolo was laid to rest in Filottrano on March 24th.
