His Royal Majesty, Justice Francis Tabai, CON JSC (rtd), the Pere Esuku 1 of Tuomo Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has noted that the late Chief (Mrs.) Mama Amogunye Timiyan (Nee Diegbegha), left legacies behind for the family.

HRM Justice Tabai made the remark on Sunday, 11 September 2022 when he led a delegation from Tuomo in condolence visit to the Warri residence of HRM Elder Capt Dr. King Joseph I. Timiyan JP (Agbonu, Torububou 1), the Ebenanowei of Ogulagha Kingdom, on the loss of the mother.

The retired Supreme Court justice who stated that the purpose of the condolence visit is to “sympathize with them (the royal family)” and to encourage them to get over the loss, said: “You know, when you leave life, you leave things behind. We celebrate her (Mama Amogunye) for whatever she had left behind. She has created legacies by creating a great family. So, it is for other people to emulate and to handover from generation to generation.”

Meanwhile, also leading a delegation of in-laws in condolence visit to the Ebenanaowei is Chief (Hon.) Augustine Lugbenwe, a former Commissioner for Special Duties in Bayelsa State, and Chief (Hon.) Friday Bobo, a one-time councilor in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West LGA.

Chief Lugbenwe who hails from Agge community in Ekeremor LGA is a father-in-law to one of the sons of the deceased, Chief (Engr.) George Timiyan JP, while Chief Bobo led in-laws of another of Mama’s son, Capt. Anthony Timiyan, from Aghoro community and Ogbotobo community, both in Ekeremor LGA of Bayelsa State.

Speaking on the condolence visit, Chief Lugbenwe said: “Our culture demands that if our in-law lost a mother, we should be present in all the activities pertaining to burial… Those she gave birth to must have some consolation from others in order for them not to cry too much. They have all it takes to bury her, but the spirit and physical being need to be consoled, that is why we are here.

“We are also thankful to God that the children, brothers and sisters and all are strong to receive people. There are some places you get to, the cry alone will not make you to stay in that vicinity. So we are here to console, to placate them from crying and to see that we participate fully in all of the activities and at the end of the day we give glory to God,” he added.

Other delegations that also visited are those from the Delta State Izon-Ibe Welders Association led by Engr. Robinson Osainor, and the Delta South Senatorial District candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Onowakpor Thomas led by Chief Michael Seikegba and High Chief Michael Johnny.

Among the delegation that accompanied the Pere Esuku 1 of Tuomo Kingdom on the condolence visit is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Chief James Nieketien JP. Also in attendance are Chief Karawei Prefugha JP, Chief Emaye Benidewei JP, Chief George Timiyan JP, Chief Linus Yeinanagbeha, Chief Caroline Ene, Chief Ebike Benidewei JP, Hon.
