Kingdom Launches Inspection Campaign to Verify Expat Medical Screening Reliability

The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia has launched a new regulatory campaign titled “Ensuring the Reliability of Expatriate Medical Examinations,” aimed at verifying the accuracy and credibility of medical screening results for foreign workers while strengthening public health protection measures.

The initiative forms part of the Kingdom’s broader efforts to enhance healthcare compliance, improve service quality, and ensure adherence to approved medical and regulatory standards.

Ensuring Accuracy of Medical Tests

The campaign focuses on reviewing medical examination results for expatriate workers and confirming their accuracy while assessing healthcare facilities’ compliance with approved screening procedures and protocols.

Authorities will also verify the use of certified laboratory equipment that undergoes regular calibration, in addition to evaluating the qualifications and competency of technical staff responsible for conducting and analyzing medical tests.

Preventing Manipulation and Strengthening Integrity

A key objective of the campaign is to detect and prevent any practices that could compromise the integrity of medical screening results or lead to manipulation.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that strengthening trust in healthcare services and ensuring transparency in expatriate medical examinations are essential components of the initiative.

Inspection teams will review electronic reporting systems, ensure proper data integration through approved platforms, and intensify oversight of expatriate medical examination centers across the Kingdom.

Strict Penalties for Violations

The ministry warned that violations identified during inspections will be subject to strict legal penalties, including financial fines of up to SAR 100,000, temporary closure of healthcare facilities for up to 60 days, and, in severe cases, revocation of operating licenses.

These measures aim to maintain high standards of quality, transparency, and accountability throughout the healthcare sector.

Supporting Labor Market Development

The campaign complements several national initiatives designed to improve labor market quality and workforce reliability.

Among these are the Professional Examination Program, which evaluates the skills of expatriate workers through practical and theoretical assessments, and the Professional Verification Service, which validates qualifications and work experience through fully automated procedures completed within a short timeframe.

Protecting Public Health

The new campaign reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to maintaining a robust healthcare oversight system that protects public health, enhances service quality, and strengthens confidence in medical screening procedures related to expatriate workers and labor market operations.

By reinforcing compliance and transparency, the Kingdom continues to advance its healthcare and labor market standards in line with its long-term development goals.
