LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE: Old Ifedapo APC Members Reject Alleged Imposition of Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem, Demand Fresh Primary Election

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Old Ifedapo Federal Constituency, comprising Saki East, Saki West, and Atisbo Local Government Areas of Oyo State, have strongly rejected the outcome of the recently conducted House of Representatives primary election, describing the emergence of Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem as an alleged imposition that does not reflect the genuine wishes of party members and grassroots stakeholders across the constituency.

In a statement jointly issued by concerned party faithful and stakeholders, the aggrieved members expressed deep dissatisfaction over what they described as a process lacking transparency, fairness, and internal democratic principles.

According to the statement, many APC members across the constituency have continued to voice concerns over Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem’s bid for a fourth term, citing what they described as inadequate representation and the absence of meaningful developmental impact throughout his years in office.

The stakeholders further alleged that the same “backdoor arrangement” witnessed in previous election cycles was repeated despite earlier appeals by loyal party members who had previously supported his candidacy in the overall interest of party unity and in solidarity with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This time, the people can no longer accept a situation where their voices are ignored in determining who represents them,” the statement read.

The group also questioned the lawmaker’s track record, claiming that the constituency has witnessed little or no significant developmental projects such as road rehabilitation, borehole initiatives, empowerment schemes, youth engagement programs, or notable legislative achievements capable of positively impacting the lives of the people.

They warned that failure by the leadership of the party to urgently address the growing dissatisfaction among members could negatively affect the electoral strength and unity of the APC across Saki East, Saki West, and Atisbo ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

While reaffirming their loyalty and commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress, the stakeholders called on the state and national leadership of the party to immediately cancel the disputed primary election and conduct a fresh, free, fair, and transparent exercise that will give all aspirants a level playing ground.

“Our position remains clear and democratic: let the people freely decide their preferred candidate. Only a credible, acceptable, and widely supported candidate can unite the party and guarantee victory for the APC in Old Ifedapo Federal Constituency,” the statement concluded.

Signed:
Good People of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Old Ifedapo Federal Constituency, Oyo State.
