Karol G exuded fairy-like charm with elf ears, Rosalía embodied sheer elegance in Dior, and Bad Bunny captured whimsy with his goat-like shoes. Monday’s (May 6) 2024 Met Gala was a visual feast, and the Latin music stars came out in full force at one of the year’s most eagerly awaited fashion events.

Other luminaries in Latin music at the Met Gala included Shakira, who turned heads in a strapless red gown by Carolina Herrera with a dramatic cape. Rauw Alejandro opted for a gleaming metallic shirt paired with a silk white blazer, adding a touch of sleek sophistication. Omar Apollo stood out in a sharply tailored black suit by Loewe, epitomizing vintage chic.

Met Gala co-chair Jennifer Lopez made her appearance in a nearly translucent beige dress by Schiaparelli, complemented by a relaxed top knot, blending classic beauty with modern style. Cardi B mesmerized onlookers as she arrived in a breathtaking black mermaid gown, its voluminous silhouette sweeping around her in a dramatic circle — which required 10 tuxedoed men to get in position — and paired with a striking beehive updo. Meanwhile, Camila Cabello channeled sophistication in a slit bronze-colored gown complemented by a blonde ponytail.

This year’s Met Gala exhibit theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” is set to feature 250 items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. The works will be displayed at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in new ways, including elements such as video animation, CGI, AI and more.

The dress code, meanwhile, is “The Garden of Time.” As Andrew Bolton, the head curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, told Vogue, “It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.”
