Survivor Series weekend wrapped up on Sunday in San Diego, with meet-and-greets happening across the city. At the San Diego Convention Center, the Survivor Series Superstore held its final day of photo ops with several WWE Superstars, including “Main Event” Jey Uso.

After a full week of professional coverage for the site, I dedicated Sunday to simply being a fan. I wasn’t planning to write another word — until I had an experience that was too meaningful not to share.

During our final walk-through of the store, my wife and I stopped to take a few last-minute photos. A young woman named Cat and her grandmother, Linda, asked if we wanted them to snap our picture. We gladly returned the favor.

As we chatted, Cat told me that she and Linda had just met Jey Uso. Despite using a cane and a wheelchair, Linda, 86, is a big kid at heart and a lifelong wrestling fan. It was through her that Cat became a fan as well.

When it was their time to meet Jey, Cat said he helped Linda out of her chair so she could stand proudly as they posed for pictures. Their picture with Jey was genuinely heartwarming, their eyes twinkling with joy.

A lifelong fan, Linda only roots for the good guys because, as she put it, “they fight with honor.” She told me how much she loved Jey Uso, and that she’s also big on Rey Mysterio — “but not his son,” she added with a dismissive wave at the thought of Dominik.

Indeed, much has been said about Jey Uso in 2025, with critics writing him off as “just an entrance.” His Survivor Series performance won’t change their minds. But Jey has a charm that reaches an audience far wider than those obsessed with work rate and moves.

This weekend reminded me that wrestling fans aren’t a monolith — they’re individuals from all walks of life, each with their own reasons for loving this wild, wonderful sport. But at the end of the day, we all love it the same.

So the next time you see Jey Uso throwing a party — before, during, or after a match — remember this: while you might roll your eyes at all the yeeting, somewhere an incredibly adorable grandmother is grinning from ear to ear, yeeting, having the time of her life — and that alone is always worth another round of yeeting.
