I Did Not Inherit Anything From My Father As The First Son Because I’m A Muslim -Dokubo Reveals

Niger Delta activist and traditional ruler, Asari Dokubo, has revealed that he did not receive any inheritance from his father despite being the first son in the family, attributing the decision to his conversion to Islam. Dokubo made the disclosure while reflecting on his personal life, faith, and family experiences in a video shared on Facebook on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

During the discussion, Dokubo spoke candidly about the sacrifices he believes accompanied his decision to embrace Islam. According to him, his religious beliefs influenced how his family handled matters relating to inheritance, resulting in him being excluded from receiving a share of his father’s estate.

Sharing his experience, Dokubo said, “I did not inherit anything from my father as the first son because I’m a Muslim.” He explained that although the decision affected him personally, he chose not to allow it to weaken his commitment to his faith.

He further stated, “That was the decision my family made, but I accepted it because my faith was more important to me than material possessions.” According to him, his commitment to Islam outweighed any disappointment he may have felt over losing his inheritance.

Dokubo emphasized that he never viewed the situation with bitterness or resentment. Instead, he regarded it as one of the sacrifices that sometimes accompany deeply held personal convictions. He said he made peace with the outcome and focused on living according to the values of the religion he had chosen.

Reflecting further on his decision, Dokubo remarked, “I never regretted my decision to become a Muslim. Whatever I lost because of my faith was a sacrifice I was willing to make.” He maintained that no amount of wealth or family property could persuade him to abandon beliefs that he considered fundamental to his identity.

The traditional ruler also used the opportunity to speak more broadly about religious freedom and tolerance. He argued that individuals should not face discrimination or exclusion because of the faith they choose to practice.
