‘I can’t play against him’, ‘He’s a threat’… Gary Neville says £30m Chelsea star would finish his career

Pundit Gary Neville has claimed that he would really not like to defend against Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

He told his own podcast that the 22-year-old is a real handful, although he does need to bring more consistency to his game.

After 75 minutes yesterday, everyone will have been saying that Jackson had endured a real tough evening against Tottenham last night.

However, fast forward to full-time and he left North London with the match ball to commemorate his first Chelsea hat-trick.

A truly remarkable game ended 4-1 to the Blues, with Cole Palmer one of the players heaping praise on the £30m summer signing for his performance.

Neville has now claimed that while lacking consistency right now, there is certainly a player with potential that will excite Mauricio Pochettino.

Neville praises Jackson
He said: “For Jackson he has got the potential that I think Mauricio Pochettino will like. He runs, he is athletic, I thought he did a really good thing in the first half where Vicario made a wonderful save where he just turned back inside, but then at the end he hits that one over the bar.

“He is inconsistent and erratic with his finishing and I think we need to try and see more consistency from him.

“But he’s a handful, he’s a threat, you wouldn’t like to play against him. There’s a few Chelsea player like that, but it’s how they knit it together as a team because at the moment it’s still up and down.”

A hat-trick will surely be enough for Pochettino to back the striker to start again when Manchester City visit Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Following up last night with a big performance is absolutely imperative now for Jackson.
