‘He Is Not My Friend ‘

Controversial actor and preacher, Yul Edochie has publicly clarified his connection to movie producer Henry Odenigbo, CEO of Ason-Rich Movie Production, following Odenigbo’s alleged involvement in a kidnapping gang.

Filmmaker and actor Stanley Nwoko, known as Stanley Ontop, recently posted photos of Odenigbo, claiming he was the ringleader of a kidnap gang killed by the Lagos State Police Command.

The police, led by PRO Benjamin Hundeyin, had previously announced that the gang intended to abduct wealthy individuals in Lagos, though they did not disclose the identities of the deceased kidnappers.

In response to the swirling rumors, Edochie took to Instagram to debunk claims that he was friends with Odenigbo.

He explained that the circulated photo of them together was taken on a movie set in June, marking the first and only time he met Odenigbo.

Edochie emphasized, “According to the police, the guy is a kidnapper. I’ve seen stories and some blogs posting my picture with him, implying he’s my friend. I want to clarify that he wasn’t my friend. I’ve been in Nollywood for nearly 20 years, and I only saw this guy once during a movie shoot a few weeks ago.”

He elaborated that he had been contracted for a movie by a director and only realized Odenigbo was involved when he arrived on set.

Odenigbo introduced himself as “Ason-Rich Henry” and expressed excitement about working with Edochie. They took a photo together at Odenigbo’s request on the last day of shooting, which is the image now circulating online.

Edochie stated, “That was the first and last time I saw him. People are sharing the picture and saying he’s my friend, but he is not. I knew him only as a producer.”
