Have You Seen The Convoy Of The First Lady? — Abdullahi Speaks On Govt Asking Citizens To Sacrifice

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the worsening economic hardship facing Nigerians, saying the government appears disconnected from the realities of citizens.

Abdullahi made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, April 20, 2026, where he discussed the party’s policy direction and the current economic situation in the country.

According to him, the ADC has already outlined its plans in key areas such as security, the economy and human development, stressing that the cost of living crisis confronting Nigerians is severe.

He said, “Our government doesn’t do anything. So that’s why I say we will not do that. I’m not here to campaign but all these have been articulated what we will do in security, what we will do in economy, what we will do in the human development sector because it is very clear today that the cost of living crisis that Nigerians are facing is almost unprecedented,” he said.

The ADC spokesman also responded to remarks attributed to President Tinubu in which the president said he was not afraid of political pressure.

He said, “I mean and so if you permit me to say this, when the president said I’m not scared, I’m not scared, they think they can scare me. We are not here to scare anybody but if the president is really tuned in to what is going on in the country today, he should really really be afraid unless the people around him are lying to him.”

Abdullahi further highlighted the hardship faced by many Nigerians, pointing to hunger and insecurity in parts of the country: “The people that is gathering is scary. Is it the woman that watched her child go to bed hungry, crying to bed, sleep hungry? Is it a man that watched his wife die in his presence in Zamfara?”

He added that what Nigerians expect from the government is acknowledgment of the challenges and clear efforts to address them: “So what we expect the president to be saying is to be addressing this, to be saying that look I’m doing my best, my best may not be good enough but this is it.”

Abdullahi also criticised what he described as a contradiction between calls for public sacrifice and the lifestyle of government officials: “But we see a government that is telling people to make sacrifices but they are living the life of opulence. So why would people make sacrifice? Have you seen the convoy of the first lady….See More
