Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has fulfilled his promise to reward the state’s representatives at the 2025 President’s Schools Debate, with cheques presented on Thursday to the champions and their tutors.

The presentation, which took place at the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, was performed on behalf of the Governor by the Commissioner, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe.

Each of the four victorious students received ₦1 million, while their six tutors got ₦500,000 each, in recognition of their brilliant performances at the national competition in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Dr. Olohungbebe said the gesture was to encourage excellence and reward hard work, stressing that the feat reflects the impact of ongoing reforms in the education sector under the AbdulRazaq-led administration.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, lauded Governor AbdulRazaq’s consistent support to education and urged the beneficiaries to justify the recognition through greater commitment to their studies and duties.

The former Lagos State Special Adviser on Primary and Secondary Education, Mr. Sanni Sheu Ahmed, commended the Governor’s intervention, saying such recognition would inspire more young people to pursue academic excellence across Nigeria.

In their remarks, the award recipients and their tutors thanked the Governor for the financial reward and pledged to remain dedicated to making the state proud, while the parents also described the gesture as highly encouraging.

The outstanding students are Moshood Kamaldeen of Government Secondary School, Ilorin; AbdulAzeez Abdulmuntasir of St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin; Usman Mariam Enyo of Ilorin Grammar School, Ilorin; and AbdulAzeez Aisha of Nawarudeen Grammar School, Offa.

The six tutors are Babatunde Amina, Hassan Iyabo, Ashaolu Olugbenga Jude, Mofoluwaso Agbeleye, Fadare Abigail Oluwayemisi and OgidiOlu Tunde Taofeeq, whose combined efforts were also recognised with financial rewards.
