Gang Leader Dies After Falling From Balcony During Police Raid in Colombia

Antioquia, Colombia — A top Tren de Aragua gang leader, Ender Alexis Rojas Montan, has died after falling from an eighth-floor balcony while attempting to escape a police raid on his apartment in Colombia.

The dramatic incident occurred on October 9th in Antioquia, during a coordinated law enforcement operation targeting the notorious Venezuelan crime syndicate.

According to reports, Rojas Montan tried to scale his balcony in a desperate attempt to flee but lost his grip and plunged to the concrete sidewalk below, dying instantly.

A video captured by an officer at the scene showed Rojas Montan’s body covered with a white cloth as authorities secured the area.

During the raid, five armed officers stormed the apartment, ordering the suspects to surrender. One man, shirtless, quickly dropped to his knees with his hands raised, while a small dog ran nervously around the officers’ feet. Another suspect was later found hiding under a blanket in a bedroom.

Police recovered several illegal items, including a fragmentation grenade and a pound of amphetamine worth approximately $9,550.

Three additional suspects — Luis Alberto Cabeza Calderon (alias “Toro”), Yonathan Samuel Urbina Rodriguez, and Daviannys del Jesus Moya Avila — were arrested. All three are Venezuelan nationals and alleged members of the Tren de Aragua network.

Cabeza Calderon, one of the men arrested, is believed to be a close ally of Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, the gang’s top leader who has been wanted in Peru since 2023 for crimes including extortion and drug trafficking, according to El Colombiano.

The October raid, code-named “Operation Shadow 3,” was a joint effort between Colombian, Chilean, and Peruvian authorities, with support from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Ameripol, NewsX reported.

Rojas Montan had been wanted internationally for aggravated kidnapping and his association with the Tren de Aragua criminal organization, which originated in Venezuela and has been accused of operating with protection from corrupt officials.

Authorities believe the three surviving suspects were responsible for overseeing the gang’s drug distribution, extortion rackets, and sexual exploitation operations across the region.

Before his death, Rojas Montan had reportedly fled Chile in June 2024, relocating to Colombia in an effort to expand the gang’s operations into the Aburrá Valley, home to over 4 million residents.
