From Classroom to Orchard: Saudi Farmer Builds a Thriving Mango Farm with 1,700 Trees

Abdullah Al-Nashiri, a former teacher, has successfully built a flourishing agricultural project that now includes around 1,700 mango trees alongside a variety of other crops, turning his love for farming into a thriving enterprise.

A Childhood Connection to the Land

Al-Nashiri’s love for agriculture began during childhood while accompanying his late father to the fields, where he observed plowing, planting, and harvesting activities that created a lasting bond with the land.

He also recalls his mother’s daily efforts to secure water for the family and livestock, often traveling long distances to a nearby well before water storage facilities were later established.

These early experiences played a key role in shaping his agricultural knowledge and strengthening his commitment to farming.

Growing from 200 Mango Trees to a Major Farm

Following the drilling of the family’s first artesian well in the 1990s, Al-Nashiri began cultivating corn and legumes before eventually venturing into mango farming, which was relatively uncommon in the region at the time.

After his father’s passing, he and his brothers expanded the family farm and developed a larger agricultural project.

Starting with just 200 mango trees, Al-Nashiri steadily expanded production despite numerous early challenges. Today, his farm is home to approximately 1,700 mango trees along with a wide range of other agricultural products.

Diversification and Future Tourism Vision

In addition to mango cultivation, Al-Nashiri grows date palms, lemons, figs, and pomegranates. His farm has also earned organic certification, further enhancing its value and sustainability.

Looking ahead, he hopes to transform the property into a tourist farm and family destination where visitors can enjoy nature and learn more about local agricultural traditions.

For Al-Nashiri, farming represents far more than a business—it is a way of life and a vital part of his identity.
